French watchmaking continues to surprise us and renew itself with new brands offeringeclectic styles. Each one brings a wind of change in its segment. Today we are focusing on upcoming brands present at the “La Montre française dans tous ses état” event, held in October 2018 in Paris.
Launched in 2014, Charlie is a modern and independent Paris-based watchmaker that aims to offer high quality classic yet contemporary products.
The founders, Ambroise and Adrien, two childhood friends fascinated by watchmaking and beautiful products, have pooled together their enthusiasm and skills to create a unique brand, reflecting their personal style and values. What drives them? The careful and meaningful design of timeless pieces with unique lines, made in France.
Charlie Paris strives to maintain and develop the tremendous French watchmaking heritage by combining tradition and modernity. Through its values and products, the brand aims to become the ambassador of a French-style “art de vivre”, both stylish and cool.
The brand has mainly focused its development on the internet, giving it strong independence.
D.W.Y.T is a state of mind, an original and unique French brand making wooden watches and whose roots are entrenched in the present.
All the watches are hand-made. The dials and cases are made in different woods (walnut, maple, sandalwood, olive, etc.) whereas the interchangeable straps are made in calfskin leather. Combining century-old materials with an understated style, D.W.Y.T watches are a condensed version of the world today, blending authenticity and modernity.
The brand uses natural materials and optimises their design to make robust products with a controlled ecological footprint. D.W.Y.T Watch supports various associations in different fields (environment, health, etc.). These partnerships take the form of financial contributions, product donations or the mentoring of skills.
Time is our most precious asset and D.W.Y.T is a stylish, daily reminder of that fact. Because the world of today moves fast, too fast: “Take your time! ”
Hegid has designed a mechanical watch with the exceptional ability of changing its appearance
to suit moods and needs, to never remain complacent. In a day or over the course of a lifetime,
Hegid brings the watch closer to its owner who becomes its architect and builds it. In a few seconds and without tools, the timepiece is freely transformed with an ease that is unprecedented for watches.
Hegid watches consist of three parts:
- the capsule, the heart of the watch containing its automatic mechanical movement which, once bought, will follow its wearer for decades;
- the middle, the body of the watch that can take on a sporty or more formal look;
- the bracelet, the watch’s adornment which gives it a stylistic or practical touch.
Les Partisanes, a made in France watchmaking brand, aims to offer ladies’ watches designed as real fashion accessories. Masterfully managed since 2013 by Elise Mennesson and Jessica Milliat, two childhood friends, the brand designs modern and timeless models designed to give a light and elegant finishing touch to an outfit.
Wanting to do away with traditional watchmaking conventions, the designer duo have rethought the watch, a sometimes very masculine object, and have imagined a piece dedicated to women, with sincerity and an eye for detail. Attentive to seasonal trends, the friends have created their watches as exclusively feminine, minimalist and delicate essentials. Forms, dial size, materials... nothing is left to chance. The collections are sensitive and precise, embodied by the personality of their founders.
And as a logical development, since 2017, a jewellery line has completed the range.
A newcomer to the connected watch sector, the new French brand, NOWA, brings together aesthetics and technology in the same unisex watch, perfectly adapted to daily life and travel.
NOWA watches, designed by Eric Gizard, focus on minimalist lines and noble materials, while concealing cutting-edge features such as automatic resetting of the time zone and exercise and sleep monitoring.
Routine is a watch brand of which 86% of its components are made in France.
Its mission? To develop and give new value to French watchmaking!
Since September 2016, Routine has risen to the challenge of relocating all the production of its watches to France. This ranges from the machining of cases to the assembly of movements and includes the production of hands and dials. Each step is the result of the know-how of French craftsmen and watch manufacturers.
At each instant, Routine supports you in the (re)conquest of time: that of change!
